Rubens Barrichello set fastest time in
the warm-up ahead of Nick Heidfeld after a performance which again underlined
Bridgestone's perceived performance edge at
SCUDERIA FERRARI MARLBORO (1ST Barrichello/3rd

Technical: No technical changes for
the cars today.
Sporting: Michael did two runs in his
spare F2002 before switching to the race car which stopped out on the circuit with an
hydraulic failure. Barrichello said the car was very good and well balanced and he felt
very confident.
Quotes: Jean Todt: "We have no worries
about potential performance, but we are a little concerned about reliability."
SAUBER PETRONAS (2nd
Heidfeld/4th
Technical: No technical changes for
the cars today.
Sporting: Heidfeld was extremely
happy with the feel of the car, trying a few laps in the spare C21 early in the session.
Quotes: Heidfeld: "We hope to be
challenging for points this afternoon."
ORANGE ARROWS (5th
Frentzen/7th Bernoldi)
Technical: No technical changes for
the cars today.
Sporting: Frentzen tried the race car
and the spare A23 with no problems but Bernoldi pulled up on the circuit with an hydraulic
failure.
Quotes: Frentzen: "The car feels good
with a heavy load of fuel and should be good in the race."
BMW WILLIAMSF1 TEAM (6th R.
Schumacher/12th Montoya)
Technical: No technical changes for
the cars today.
Sporting: Spare car for Montoya. Schumacher
reported that his FW24 felt nervous on the limit, but believes he can alter the set-up tp
improve things. Montoya made some set-up adjustments and changed tyre pressures.
Quotes: Schumacher: "We will have our
work cut getting close to Ferrari today."
LUCKY STRIKE BAR HONDA (8th
Panis/13th Villeneuve)
Technical: No technical changes for
the cars today.
Sporting: Routine warm-up session
with no real problems. Panis not 100 per cent comfortable with his car which was still
slightly lacking grip. Villeneuve's machine still displaying lack of rear-end stability.
Quotes: Villeneuve: "It's going to be a
bit of a struggle today in the midfield."
DHL
Technical: No technical changes for
the cars today.
Sporting: No problems with either car
with Fisichella carrying out long runs to finalise race set-up. Sato tried two different
set-ups and has chosen the one he intends to use for the race.
Quotes: Sato: "I managed to get the
set-up adjusted so that the car feels much less nervous."
MILD SEVEN RENAULT F1 TEAM (10th
Button/18th Trulli)
Technical: No technical changes for
the cars today.
Sporting: The spare R202 which Trulli
used for qualifying yesterday is now designated his race car while the race chassis is now
designated the spare and was briefly tried by Button. Button happy with his own A23.
Quotes: Button: "It would be good to stay
ahead of at least one of the McLarens to the end of the race."
WEST McLAREN MERCEDES (14th
Raikkonen/16th Coulthard)
Technical: No technical changes for
the cars today.
Sporting: Both cars run with worn tyres and
heavy fuel loads. Neither driver reported any problems and Coulthard briefly used the
spare MP4/17.
Quotes: Ron Dennis: "There were no
technical glitches and the cars were very heavy in the trim we ran them."
PANASONIC
Technical: No technical changes for the cars
today.
Sporting: McNish found a good race
set-up although he admitted that the TF102 still lacks aero downforce. Salo did a couple
of laps in the spare car while rear suspension problems were rectified on his race
chassis.
Quotes: Salo: "This looks like being a
pretty tough race for us."
JAGUAR RACING (17th de la

the cars today.
Sporting: Nothing significant to
report although
Quotes: Niki Lauda: "The FIA has
penalised Jaguar Racing for a discrepancy between the two samples and not because of any
perceived performance advantage gained."
KL MINARDI ASIATECH (20th
Webber/22nd Yoong)
Technical: Front wings/nose sections
flown back to
Sporting: Webber spun off at first
turn after losing rear wing on the main straight due to a stress fracture. After detailed
technical examination it was decided to withdraw both Minardis from the race on grounds of
safety.
